A major infrastructure development in Soy is the Soy-Kosachei Water Supply Project implemented by North Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency. This water project is located in Soy Sub-Location (Soy ward) and Kamagut Sub-Location (Kamagut ward) about 27 kilometers from Eldoret Town. The project has multiple components including embankment improvement and rehabilitation works for 700,000 cubic meter earth dam, construction of new main spillway with 16.5 meter long concrete ogee weir and installation of 350mm diameter, 650 meter long steel gravity raw water main from intake to new treatment facility.The treatment works will have a capacity of 6,500 cubic meters per day and will have two 1,000 cubic meter concrete ground clear water tanks, staff houses and laboratory. The distribution system will have 8.5 kilometers of 250mm diameter HDPE pipeline from the treatment works to the new elevated storage tank at Ngobitwa School and 7 kilometers of 315mm HDPE pipe to another elevated storage tank at Kamoret School. This will improve water access and quality for residents in Soy, Kosachei and Kamagut schemes through a network of distribution mains of 96 kilometers. Public participation was held at multiple locations including the dam site and community members asked questions on project timelines, employment opportunities, water pricing and sustainability measures indicating high interest in the project.
Electrification Projects.
In April 2025, Uasin Gishu County Government in partnership with Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC) launched Stima Mashinani project to boost rural electrification in the county including Soy Constituency. This project aims to improve electricity access in rural villages, promote entrepreneurship and enable 24 hour economy by providing power for businesses to operate throughout the day. Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii noted that electricity is one of the pillars of his Nguzo Kumi development blueprint which prioritizes socio-economic empowerment for residents.
The first phase of Stima Mashinani project will connect over 600 households across the county, Mobet in Soy Sub-County is one of the initial implementation sites.
