Ngeria: Location and Facts.

Ngeria is a Sub-Location in Turbo Division of Uasin Gishu County, 15 kilometers from Eldoret town. It’s the birthplace of William Ruto, the current President of Kenya who was born there in 1966. A 48 year land row in Kiplombe and Kamagut areas of Uasin Gishu between the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and local residents was recently resolved through a truce brokered by the Defence and Lands ministries. Locals will be allocated 5,000 acres of the disputed land with title deeds expected to be ready by mid 2025.

The land dispute had severe consequences to the community, 8 people lost their lives over the years. In November 2023 alone 5 youths were killed during clashes between residents and KDF officers in Kamagut while 3 residents lost their lives in 2021 as infighting escalated over the disputed land.

Kapseret Constituency: Administrative Profile.

Kapseret Constituency is one of the six constituencies in Uasin Gishu County represented in Parliament by Oscar Kipchumba Sudi. The constituency has five wards: Simat/Kapseret, Langas, Ngeria, Megun and Kipkenyo. These wards form an important administrative unit in the county structure.

Kapseret has become a hotspot for development projects including the Kipkarren Dam Water Supply project. The Sh.1.3 billion project funded by the National Government and African Development Bank (ADB) will address water shortage in Eldoret Town by adding 23,000 cubic meters of water daily.
