The new market is part of a broader plan to construct six modern markets across Embu County to stimulate commercial activities and provide a ready market for farm produce. The plan includes using open spaces in the market for:

Electrification.

Hon. Gitonga Mukunji’s electrification project, Mulika Biashara has reached Kithimu Market. This will transform the area by providing electricity to businesses and improve security through lighting.

Thuci Dam Project which affects Runyenjes and Manyatta sub-counties will benefit Kithimu Ward. The project will address water needs for the growing population of around 106,000 in these areas. St. Teresa’s Secondary School-Kithimu is a notable educational institution in the area. Located in Nembure location in Embu County, it’s a Catholic sponsored girls only boarding school that opened on March 5, 1979 with 11 girls and 2 teachers.
